You Get 1,600 Minutes for $20* (Friday, September 24, 2010)
Butterfly stamp: LuckyMe NYC @ 88 Palace
When I found out that the LuckyMe crew was making its way from Glasgow to NYC for a showcase at my favorite Chinatown minimall dim sum restaurant-cum-nightclub, I knew I wanted in. The last time I went to a party of theirs was a Numbers off-Sonar party last summer in Barcelona, which was mega epic.
The full lineup for the evening was: Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, The Blessings, Mike Slott, Lunice, Jacques Greene, Eclair Fifi, Machinedrum, Cubic Zirconia and Azealia Banks.
Highlights: My favorite performer was actually Eclair Fifi. As the only female DJ repping at the night, I was pretty stoked about her bass-heavy tracks and expertly timed ‘90s throwbacks. Also, she played HudMo’s remix of Tweet’s “Oops (Oh My)” which will always get me stoked.
Lowlights: I was outside for pretty much his entire set, but I did not hear good things about Jacques Greene. Also, HudMo and Rustie came on last and only played a 40-minute set. What they did do was good, but it wasn’t enough to amply showcase their awesomeness.
There are some fun photos of the night here (especially our signature Mickey hands/3D glasses jawn, pictured here).
