Circular black light sensitive stamp: Dub War @ Love
This Friday was the start of what I’m lovingly calling Dubstep Weekender 2k9.
We had a Londoner in our crew, and I was hoping to impress her with the soundsystem at Love (which I feel is the only one in NYC that’s really comparable to Plastic People, where London’s weekly dubstep night FWD» goes down). Dub War was playing host to badass Bristolian Pinch and Mary Ann Hobbs of Radio1, and a ton of people came out and raved their faces off.
At the risk of sounding corny, let me just say how important it was for me to see Mary Ann Hobbs live. This woman is recognized internationally for playing tons of leftfield, bass heavy electronic music…and there just ain’t too many ladies out there doing it like that.
Highlight of the evening: group singalong to Ginuwine’s “My Pony.”
(Big up to Ms. Pia @ livinitblog for the photo!).
