Illegible date stamp: CHERYL: LONDON @ The Star of Bethnal Green
As previously mentioned, CHERYL is currently touring Europe! Their first stop was London, where I was lucky enough to join them in ruining peoples’ lives last Saturday night. Leading up to the party, nobody was certain what to expect—it seemed like a good amount of people were coming (this piece in Time Out London was a pretty good indication), but it was an unfamiliar crowd so there was no way to know for sure.
When we got to the venue, there was a massive queue outside, all the way down the block (which didn’t die down over the course of the whole party). We managed to get inside, and the place was full of people who seemed eager to get covered in fake blood and glitter and dance around like maniacs. Nick was DJing as usual, and he also had great support from the dudes of local party Dirtbox. The night wasn’t themed so there was less dressing up than in Brooklyn, but a smattering of masks and wigs did the trick perfectly.
Highlights: getting my makeup done beforehand by Ms. Giada Venturini, demonstrating the CHERYL for our foreign brethren, getting wrapped in tape, having so many friends in one place, and generally spreading the gospel.
Lowlight: Morgan twisted his ankle whilst running to find me during Sonique’s “It Feels So Good”. He kept on dancing though. Bless.
I think CHERYL went over really well in London. People were totally up for it, and the amazing turnout made it clear that next time, they’ll need a bigger venue (because there WILL be a next time, oh yes). The next stop for CHERYL is Lisbon. And then I will meet them in Berlin. INTERNATIONAL TAKEOVER STYLEE.
(Cheers to SVB, DP and Sara T. for participating in the above photo).
