No stamp: Boiler Room #41: Keysound Presents w/ Dusk & Blackdown @ A warehouse in Dalston
For the better part of the past year, London crew member Thristian bPm has been severely killin’ it with the weekly Boiler Room Ustream show for Platform Magazine. They ask heavy hitters from the dance music scene to come down to an East London warehouse location each Tuesday evening, have a bit of a party, and broadcast the entire thing live online for all the world’s music nerds to watch. It was awesome to have the opportunity to see this go down in the flesh, as I’m usually following along on during the afternoon from my desk at work in NYC (as part of the “chat room massive”, innit).
We got off the bus and entered a Tesco’s; I was somewhat confused. Morgan led us straight to the staff door at the back, looked around slyly, and put his hand on the knob. For a moment I actually thought Boiler Room might just be going on back there, until he said, “Nah, we’re just here to get beer!”
Walking around the corner, we were greeted by a rather large bouncer who took our names and let us in. A warm, friendly vibe permeated the space. People were drinking, smoking and chatting, or standing behind the DJs and watching them work.
The tunes played on this particular night were not excessively dancey, but I still had a great time (and you can view Dusk & Blackdown’s full set here). Plus, Joshua Idehen performed an amazing track which I believe is called “Northern Line”, which focused on bigging up the Tube.
And I will be back, Boiler Room. Oh yes, I will be back.
(Cheers to Tickle for the photo!).
