Don’t Techno For An Answer* (Thursday, February 3, 2011)
Blue Club Transmediale wristband: CTM 11. Prismatic Shadows: Dorian Concept, Pariah, Raime, Hype Williams @ Festaal Kreuzberg / Selector’s Choice feat. Last.fm DJs @ Monarch Berlin
After a lovely traditional German dinner at Prater Garten in Prenzlauer Berg in celebration of one SVB’s 30th birthday, we headed to another Club Transmediale event in Kreuzberg. Though we sadly missed Hype Williams and Raime (both of whom I’d like to see when I am over in LDN again soon), we arrived during Dorian Concept’s set. The venue, Festaal Kreuzberg, was a small-ish concert hall that reminded me of Music Hall of Williamsburg in scale. I saw Dorian Concept perform at Sonar in summer 2009, but it wasn’t quite as badass as on this night; he came armed with a full arsenal of synths, which he played live to craft thoroughly highbrow yet totally danceable beats. We then wandered back over to Monarch to chill out and see the Last.fm team DJ for awhile, before returning to hear the tail end of Pariah. Lots of UK bass and house-like bizness. YES.*(Thanks for this pearl of hilarity, Lara A.)
