‘From the Desk of Hercules II’ stamp*: FIXED w/ Teengirl Fantasy (live) and Azari & iii (DJ set) @ (le) Poisson Rouge
I hadn’t seen Teengirl Fantasy perform since their dreamily beautiful debut LP 7 AM had been released, so we headed to LPR to catch a show. They went on pretty soon after we arrived, opening with an extended version of “Make the Move” from the new record. The crowd was sort of sparse, and there were a number of straight couples dancing, wherein the guy was standing behind the girl and they were swaying back and forth (super odd). However, the vibe was very chill, and people seemed to be appreciative of the tunes and the visuals set up behind the guys, which depicted palm trees and flowy neon colors. They mainly played new stuff, but also included a refixed version of one of my all-time favorite TGF tracks, “Azz Klapz”. Sadly we didn’t stick around for Azari & iii, but it’s hard to believe a DJ set could be as satisfying as their live show. *I was confused when I received this stamp. Was it a reference to Hercules and Love Affair? When I returned to the venue a few days later, I found out the real truth. Stay tuned to find out the secret of the ‘From the Desk of Hercules II’ stamp! OMGGG.
