Ready, Steady, Goat stamp*: The Oxford & Cambridge Goat Race @ Spitalfields City Farm
Last Saturday afternoon marked an historic tradition in London. No, not the annual Oxford & Cambridge Boat Race…but its spin-off event, the Goat Race! I decided to wear my unicorn ring in solidarity.
It was held at the incredibly adorable Spitalfields City Farm, and featured drinks and cakes and face painting and a photo booth and loads of animals (of course) and a DJ who played a samba-ish cover of “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life” and a rapper dressed in a skeleton suit with a top hat named Voodoo Browne who performed a song called “Low Budget Raver”. At a farm. With loads of kids running around. This city is awesome.
There were a few other small events before the big race kicked off, including the first annual Oxford & Cambridge Stoat Race (the English don’t quit with the punnery, do they?). Dear reader, if you are unsure what a stoat is, so was I—it is also known as an ermine or short-tailed weasel.
Oxford won the Boat Race.
Cambridge won the Goat Race.
Oxford won the Stoat Race.
*Definitely one of the best stamps in the history of the blog.
