No stamp, but hella nice hand soap: Red Bull Sessions feat. Norman Jay and Andreya Triana @ Shoreditch House
A couple weeks ago, we went to Shoreditch House in an attempt to see Space Dimension Controller DJ. When we arrived, songstress Andreya Triana was performing in the downstairs lounge. Her voice is incredible, and for her last song, she covered Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody”! Next, old school DJ Norman Jay came on, whose Good Times Sound System is a staple of Notting Hill Carnival every year (an event which I cannot WAIT to attend this year). We listened to his eclectic selections for a moment before heading upstairs to check out SDC. However, it turned out he was taken off the bill at the last moment—le sigh. There was another DJ in the roof garden area though, who was playing loads of grime and Biggie and Marky’s “LK” (which holds a very special place in my heart) and Rick Ross’ “Blowin’ Money Fast”. It erupted into a giant dance party, with guys literally hanging from the rafters, and said DJ executed many a (questionable, but heartfelt) rewind. Not bad for a Monday.
