Official StreetFest wristband: StreetFest @ Hearn Street Car Park
‘PAID’ stamp: GETME! w/ Brenmar, Lorn & Christian AIDS @ The Shacklewell Arms
The afternoon following the somewhat failed Moodymann gig, we ventured to StreetFest for some beers, burgers, hip-hop, art, and all that type of ish. It was cute to see the younger kids out and enjoying themselves, and they were even treated to a set by Ghostpoet (which I sadly had to miss in order to catch a much-needed disco nap).
Later, after grabbing some great Kingsland Road Vietnamese, we headed north to the border between Dalston and Stoke Newington for GETME!. When we arrived, Christian AIDS was DJing, and it was a pretty heavy bunch of tunes that I felt might have worked better around 2am. But, fun still, and great visuals. Next, the one like Thristian bPm got on the decks, which included (among other great things) Caribou a.k.a. Daphni’s “Ye Ye”. After that was Lorn, who is on Brainfeeder; I liked his tunes, but they were again too dark and chilled out for that time of night. Much to my dismay, after the day’s events I just couldn’t stick around for Brenmar—a shame, since I did this interview with him last year but have never seen him live. He did unleash this tune/video on the world recently though, which hella made me miss NYC!
(Cheers out to Tickle for the photos; he also designed the wristband!).
